Whilst moving continents may have seemed the biggest life changing event I would experience, I soon found out it paled into insignificance when I became a mom. Over the past 10 years I have learnt so much about compassion (for myself & others), patience, openness, honesty, effective communication and selflessness. After the birth of my second son, our family life took a downward turn leading me to a time of deep introspection. Connecting with a local spiritual community, I was able to discover tools to help me discover my inner-self. As well as meditation, I discovered the Japanese healing modality, Reiki. Initially this was for my personal well-being, however, once I realized how effective it was I soon began to talk about it and offer it to family and friends. This lead me to become a Reiki Master and open my reiki studio in 2015. During the same time period I had also become involved with facilitating New Moms Connection group at Salem Health. As I sat and listened to the birth stories of moms who attended, I began to think that there must be a way of helping moms have a better birth experience, leading me to discover the role of a Birth Doula and in turn become a certified Birth Doula with DONA International. This season of my life is dedicated to serving. It is my desire to help my clients reconnect with their inner-self to find peace and harmony during the life events that may give them cause to cross my path.
I am proud to call the Pacific North West my home after moving here from England with my husband 11 years ago & we have two lively and loving boys (both born at the Family Birth Center at Salem Health assisted by their midwives) . Since then I have continued to nurture my ties with Salem Health, facilitating the New Moms Connection Group and giving Reiki to patients in the Oncology Unit.
